Motivation

Liquid nitrogen is used as a coolant to achieve low temperatures as it evaporates at 77.35 K. As nitrogen can directly be liquefied from ambient air, it is significantly less expensive than liquid helium and thus preferred if temperatures down to 77.35 K are sufficient.

The 2nd Institute of Physics operates several nitrogen liquefier. Therefore there is no necessity to purchase liquid nitrogen from external suppliers.
